How does cognitive therapy differ from tutoring?

Tutoring is used to help a child with a particular academic subject such as math or history. However, if tutoring and extra help hasn’t helped your student, underdeveloped cognitive skills are often the reason. Cognitive training works on the root cause of most academic problems; such as, poor concentration, loosing place when reading, a short attention span, not remembering what was read or heard, working too slowly, the inability to do multiple tasks such as listening and taking notes, careless errors and a host of other deficient cognitive related functions.

Often children who have failed time after time ‘stop trying’ and avoid schoolwork for fear of failure. The Left Behind Survival Program provides a different atmosphere in which to learn. The training develops and enhances learning ability while building confidence and self-esteem. The program is fun but intensely challenging and children really enjoy the break from standard schoolwork. The program is successful because it targets and removes the areas of cognitive weakness. Children with ADD, ADHD, dyslexia, or any learning deficiency will benefit from this excellent training and confidence building program. Each session builds confidence and self- motivation as schoolwork becomes easier and grades improve. Give your child the advantage of fully developed cognitive skills and abilities to face the academic challenges ahead.

How does the Left Behind Survival Kit help your child to learn faster and easier?

The Left Behind Survival Kit is customized cognitive training that forces conscious skills into the subconscious. The conscious mind can only process one task at a time. The more skills that are automatic or in the subconscious, the more tasks a child can learn and retain. Through intense training your child can learn and retain information faster and easier as the brain grows in it's capacity to learn. In only a few weeks, your child will acquire skills, abilities and techniques to tackle any subject and succeed. This intense training translates into increased processing speed, visual processing speed, comprehension, attention span, concentration and other essential cognitive skills.

After a only a few weeks of training, principals and teachers asked many of the parents of our students
what they were doing differently; the students grades and attitude toward school-work had so dramatically improved.

            How the sessions work

  • Each 1 hour session 2-3 days a week consists of 4 to 6 exercises approximately 10 minutes in

duration. As the  exercises increase in intensity and difficulty so your child’s capacity for learning

increases; this process yields quick and dramatic results. We challenge the student each session               to go just beyond  the level of work that is comfortable to accomplish; this is the student's

challenge level.   This intense fast paced learning process with the positive

reinforcement and encouragement from one-on-one training, is the cornerstone of our success.

  •  Children like the challenging exercises and the change from standard schoolwork.

  • The metronome and stopwatch included in the kit are
    used to improve  processing speed

               and mental and visual processing.

  •  Tracking tools are included in the kit to enable you to monitor your child's progress each session.

  •  Each session brings definitive and measurable changes in your student's ability to learn

and process  information. These improvements are quickly reflected in your student's schoolwork

and grades, as well as in confidence and self-esteem.
